          ~ Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm A boutique lavendar family farm located in the beautiful Santa Rita Hills of California.

          The Sta.Rita Hills Lavender Farm first opened to the public July 4th 2022, this mother and son team uses Permaculture/ Regenerative practices to cultivate Lavender and Seasonal Specialty Cut Flowers. The Lavender is then either sold as bundles or distilled into Lavender Essential Oil to be used in all of the Bath and Body products carried in the farm stand and online.

          Sta.Rita Hills Lavender Farm also grows lavender for Culinary purposes, selling Lavender culinary goods along with other farm grown foods such as Pomegranates and Farm Fresh Eggs.

          Rancho Ontiveros

          Established in 1781. James Ontiveros’ ancestor, Josef Ontiveros came from Avila Spain, through Sinaloa, MX, Loreto, Baja and into San Diego and Los Angeles with the Reyes expedition in 1781.             The Nichols brothers, Matt & Jeff, grew up in Ames, Iowa where their love of cooking, good food and a sense of family and community was nurtured. In the summer of 1996, they opened the original Brothers Restaurant in Solvang, which they soon outgrew. In 2002, the brothers brought fine dining to Mattei’s Tavern and are proud to have been the caretakers of that venerable spot until they opened Sides Hardware & Shoes – a Brothers Restaurant in Los Olivos in 2012.

            As a small winery, Story of Soil, we can put more time, attention, and care into our wines (than the larger wineries can afford to, really). To make wines of the highest quality, we select vineyards that are farmed with the greatest level of care.

            Single Vineyard Focus

            We focus on single varietal and single vineyard. Single vineyard allows us to focus on “the place” the grapes are farmed and single varietal will show how each varietal is affected by that place (i.e. soil and microclimate).
