Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum
The Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum and Parks-Janeway Carriage House celebrate the rich history of the Santa Ynez Valley, its pioneering settlers and the five early townships that formed the foundation of this unique region.
Through its collection, exhibits and educational programs, the Museum honors the Valley’s past for the enjoyment of generations to come. See our website for a current list of exhibitions.
The Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum is also available for special events. Rental fees are very competitive and our friendly staff works with you to make everything perfect for your special event.
In 1961, a group of dedicated Valley residents who recognized the need to preserve local history organized The Santa Ynez Valley Historical Society.
Over the years, a single room has developed into a large complex surrounding a beautiful courtyard. The Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum houses exhibits from the Chumash period through early 20th Century ranching days.
The Parks-Janeway Carriage House
The Parks-Janeway Carriage House showcases a superb collection of horse-drawn vehicles and related tack. The Ellen Gleason Memorial Library is devoted to local and California history.
SYV Historical Society is a non-profit organization depending on the generosity of its members, benefactors, and visitors to maintain and improve its historical collections and to continue its educational activities.
Volunteers act as docents, arrange exhibits and lectures, organize fund-raisers and social activities, and preserve Society records for the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum.
